ANKARA — Türkiye is targeting Black Sea gas production of 20 million cubic metres a day with the contribution of the Osman Gazi floating production platform, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said in an 18 October 2026 statement.
The platform is designed to process gas offshore before sending it through an approximately 170-kilometre subsea pipeline to Filyos. The ministry’s timetable envisages production contributions from the facility from 2027.
The target describes the intended production level after commissioning. It should not be read as evidence that the platform is already operating continuously at that capacity. Testing, commissioning and subsequent output data will determine progress.
Higher domestic production may contribute to supply security, but the announcement does not guarantee a specific reduction in household bills. Consumer tariffs, investment costs and operating performance are separate matters. Maintenance, transmission capacity and reliable deliveries will also shape the project’s practical impact.
