ANKARA — Türkiye’s Ministry of National Education has published a national play policy and action plan addressing children’s right to play across education and wider social life.
The document contains six objectives, 29 policy measures and 90 action steps. The ministry classifies 25 actions as short-term, 53 as medium-term and 12 as long-term.
The plan includes protecting time for breaks and natural play, developing guidance for safe and inclusive spaces, and preparing a national inventory of traditional and contemporary games. Teacher training in play pedagogy and support for appropriate digital content are also envisaged.
A national coordination body is intended to monitor implementation. Publication of the plan sets out the policy framework, rather than demonstrating that all facilities, training programmes or digital resources have already been delivered. Individual actions remain subject to their implementation timetable.
