The presidents of the European Parliament, Council and Commission reviewed progress on the “One Europe, One Market” roadmap, according to a Council statement dated 15 October 2026.

The review came six months after the roadmap was signed. The institutions reaffirmed their intention to advance the 2026 legislative priorities, remove single-market barriers and improve European competitiveness.

Clean and affordable energy, cross-border investment and the social dimension of integration were among the priorities. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen referred to an ambition to overhaul the single market by the end of 2027, serving approximately 450 million consumers.

The review is a statement of political coordination and progress, not evidence that all proposed reforms have entered into force. Individual measures still depend on their legislative and implementation stages. Businesses and consumers will need to track the specific rules and their effective dates.
