The second summit between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council, originally scheduled for 24 October 2026 in Riyadh, was postponed, the Council announced on 15 October.
The announcement said a replacement date would be communicated later. It did not explain the reason for the postponement or identify a specific diplomatic disagreement.
The EU described its partnership with the GCC as strategically important to both regions and reaffirmed its commitment to deepen cooperation. It also referred to the momentum generated by the first summit, held in October 2024.
The statement confirms a change to the meeting calendar, rather than an end to the partnership. Any revised date or detailed agenda requires a subsequent official announcement. The original 24 October date should therefore not be presented as a forthcoming confirmed meeting.
