ANKARA / AMMAN — Türkiye and Jordan issued separate statements on 27 September 2026 condemning reported incursions at Al-Aqsa Mosque and calling for protection of the site’s historical and legal status.
Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry said Israeli extremist groups had entered under the protection of Israeli security forces. It called for international measures to prevent further violations of the site’s status.
Jordan’s Foreign Ministry reiterated its position on the authority of the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Affairs Department, and rejected actions it said undermined the status of the holy site.
The statements represent the two governments’ official accounts and positions. They did not provide figures for arrests, injuries or deaths, and none should be inferred from these announcements. The September statements are dated diplomatic reactions, rather than confirmation of a new incident on the publication date of this English brief.
