The European Commission is gathering feedback on its proposed EU KIDS Act, a framework combining common social-media age rules with safety-by-design obligations for services used by children.

The proposal envisages no social-media accounts below 13, supervised accounts for 13- and 14-year-olds and independent accounts from 15. Its wider provisions address service design, potentially addictive features, contact from strangers and privacy-preserving age assurance.

Children, parents, educators and service providers are invited to contribute. The Commission’s proposal page lists 3 December 2026, midnight Brussels time, for feedback; readers should check that current page rather than rely on the earlier date in the original Turkish report.

The KIDS Act remains a legislative proposal. Commission adoption of a proposal is not the same as final enactment by the EU legislature. Existing Digital Services Act obligations and the proposed additional rules should therefore be distinguished.
