ANKARA — Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry condemned Colombia’s decision to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and urged the country to reverse the move, in a statement dated 15 October 2026.
The ministry said the decision conflicted with relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council resolutions 476 and 478, and with legal principles cited in the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion.
Ankara reiterated its position that East Jerusalem is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory. It called on states to avoid actions that could undermine Jerusalem’s historical and legal status.
The statement also reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. These are the Turkish government’s stated positions. The announcement did not establish that the embassy relocation had already been completed or provide Colombia’s implementation timetable.
